BitDefender Antivirus for Mac
I thought Macs are not vulnerable to viruses. Why should I use an Antivirus?
Although Macs are traditionally believed to be safer, they are not more secure than any other computer or operating system. Also, malware writers are concentrating more and more on finding vulnerabilities in Mac OS X and popular Mac applications.
Why would I need software that detects Windows viruses? They don’t even run on my Mac.
Many people run Windows on their Macs, so they may receive Windows malware while in Mac OS X and risk executing it in Windows. Another risk is that you could be passing on viruses to the people who use Windows machines.
I use both Mac OS X and Windows on the same machine. Can I get an antivirus for both?
Yes, BitDefender Antivirus Dual Protection (Mac OS X & Windows) provides protection for both Macs and Windows based systems.
What versions of Mac OS are supportedand on what hardware?
BitDefender supports Intel-based Macintosh computers running any of following operating systems:
- Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.6 or later)
- Mac OS X Leopard (10.5 or later)
- Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6 or later, both 32 and 64 bit)
Now I’m using Mac OS X Leopard. If I upgrade to Snow Leopard, will BitDefender Antivirus for Mac run after the upgrade?
Yes, BitDefender Antivirus for Mac will run without any issues, even if you upgrade your OS from Tiger To Leopard or Snow Leopard.
